Evan great one, learned so much. Mr Rifkin has the BIG BRAINS. Two questions: Based on what he was saying about performance practices, or just more generally for you, what is your favorite, or a favorite St. Matthew’s Passion recording? And, what is the music playing at the end of this episode? Thx

Thanks, Brad. It's hard to pin down a favorite St. Matthew Passion recording though I am predisposed toward Philippe Herreweghe's recordings of anything and everything. I should admit however I have not listened critically to all the versions that deserve such a listening. Another that comes to mind is Masaaki Suzuki.

The music at the end, yes! It's Joshua Rifkin's own recording of BWV80 'Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott' although I sped it up, pitched it up, layered it into different channels pitched one 8va down/up. You know... it's Rifkin meets WTF for certain!

Oh cool. Thanks for that tip Evan. I’ve had one with Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Have no other reference.

I figured the outro music was something you had been discussing, and also suspected that you had put your own touch on it! Love it. I’m trying to imagine Mr. Rifkin’s reaction though...
